Most adult cats have this low tolerance for milk sugars so giving them milk or other dairy products can make them gassy and cause diarrhea. It can also spark pancreatitis in sensitive individuals.Some veterinarians have put the stool softening property of lactulose intolerance to work--using it to treat constipation.
