But somehow, with your final digital photograph right before your eyes, you aren't completely satisfied with the final product. Maybe it's a picture of the ice-capped peaks, but it simply isn't looking as cold as you want it to or perhaps your photograph is simply looking too cluttered for your liking Fortunately for you, there have been numerous digital photographers who've been down that road and have known just how you feel. And as a result, the art called digital photography editing was created. Today, there is barely a digital photograph you will find around you which hasn't been digitally retouched or even re-mastered. And here the best part, with a few quick steps, it is possible for you to adopt this process for yourself, to create immaculate pictures of your very own.

Capturing the perfect image is far from an easy task. There are many factors which come into play in determining how impeccable your image is from selecting the perfect backdrop, to the color tones as well as the level of exposure. It is only when the perfect symphony of all these elements is achieved that the image is at its most spectacular. But very often, we find that even a small tweak can cause dramatic changes, thus detracting from the inherent beauty of the image. And to correct these, it is not always a feasible solution to start from scratch and re-shoot the image, all over again. It is here that skillful editing comes to the rescue, enabling you to not only correct your image of its imperfections, but also to enhance your picture quality and tone which your digital camera, by itself, may not allow. But the quality of editing is also largely dependant on how effective your editing software is and also how suited it is to your needs.

Every wedding has a professional photographer who has been doing this for years. What they are going to produce is pretty much a known entity before the wedding even gets started. You know he is going to hold the wedding party over after the ceremony and do a bunch of staged shots. You know he will "stage" the feeding of the cake between bride and groom, the throwing of the bouquet, the dance of father and bride, all that standard stuff.

But in order to make a good living doing this, one must know the essential tools that are needed. One of the main things that a wedding photographer has to have in order to produce those special moments is an eye for detail and of course the right equipment. In order to make sure that their job is done correctly, the photographer needs to have at least a camera with black and white film along with a color film camera handy.

While it is popularly believed that the first photograph was probably taken earlier, the official invention of photography was made in 1839 by French artist and chemist Louis J.M. Daguerre. In conjunction with Joseph Nicphore Nipce, they built upon a discovery made by Johann Heinrich Schultz in 1724 regarding how a certain silver nitrate and chalk mixture darkened when exposed to light. The daguerreotype, or earliest type of photograph, was born.

You need not know anything about the technical aspect of editing, but can still edit digital images. You may have an imagined how that photo would turn up when you initially took a shot. Sometimes, the image may not reflect your thoughts. You land up in disappointment. Hey! Don't worry your disappointment can work magic. You just point out what all you do not like in the image you have just taken. You just describe how the image should actually look like. Have you. Aah! Now your becoming an editor. The next step is sit at your personal computer and start exploring ways to make the image look like how you want it to be.

Adobe's Photoshop software is a very powerful image editing program that is by far the market leader for editing image files. I use Photoshop extensively when creating, and editing images for the web sites that I design. Almost all professional photographers and printers also use Photoshop to create all of the wonderful images that appear in magazines, billboards, and even on television. I am not the best artist in the world, but with Photoshop I have enough power to create brilliant images with tools that are built-in to the software. The coolest thing about Photoshop is that even as powerful as it is out of the box, there are many different plug-ins to make Photoshop even more powerful. The Photoshop plug-ins can be grouped into a few major categories which include 3D, color management, digital asset management, photographic, retouching, and special effects.

When people take digital images and put them on their computers, the pictures are generally not perfect. This is where enhancements come in, they will make it so your picture looks almost professional. One enhancement that is used often is the sharpness enhancement. The sharpness enhancement is extremely helpful. Basically it improves the quality on a fuzzy picture. Almost every editor has the sharpness too, sadly most of them aren't the best. The best ones use algorithms internally to help with the enhancement of the photo. This tool is extremely useful for blurry pictures or one with fuzzy lines and borders.

Create depth of field: You can quite easily add depth of field to the images that you have taken "snaps" of. If you have an image that is completely in focus and the background too is in focus (a common effect of non SLR digital point and shoot cameras) the you can solve this using Photoshop. You simply draw a mask or make a selection around the subject, invert that mask so that it selects all but the subject and apply a blur effect to the part of the image that is selected. In the later versions of Photoshop there is actually a filter that emulates the natural lens blur. The end result is a sharp, in focus subject with an out of focus background. This can be very effective and can draw attention to the subject.

The Photoshop plug-ins which are available can help perform tasks much faster and more efficiently than performing these tasks by hand. The 3D plug-ins are used to create 3D images and type very quickly and elegantly. The color management Photoshop plug-ins can create new colors to correspond to the printer that you are using, or the monitor that you are using to create your graphics. The digital asset management plug-ins are used to organize all of the digital images that you have created so that finding the correct image is much easier than without it. The photographic ones give many different professional lens techniques that you can apply to any picture to create amazing effects. The basic idea is to either copy the Background Layer and make any adjustment directly to it (color adjustments, sharpening, bluring, contrast, exposure, etc.) or make that alteration in an adjustment layer. Once you've made the adjusted layer (either using a duplicated layer or a true adjustment layer) then Go Overboard!! I mean it, allow yourself to go way sharp, way blurry, way magenta, way saturated, whatever you're doing, do it more than needed.
